Ordering flowers for a June wedding feels like being a kid in a candy store! Tara and Sean’s bold pastel color palette was the perfect foil for the bounty of late spring and early summer flowers of Maryland and Virginia. Local delphinium, sweet peas, and forget-me-not provided the blues; snapdragons, scabiosa, and the season’s first dahlias provided the rosy contrast, and there was plenty of pretty local foliage for background. Roses and ranunculus rounded out the flower palette and introduced me to a new favorite variety: the lovely “Cotton Expression” rose is a cool white with just a little bit of blush in its many ruffled petals, which blended perfectly with the blue and pink tones.

St. Francis Hall at the Franciscan Monastery is a festive venue, surrounded by gardens that provide charming backdrops for photos and ceremonies. I loved how Peachtree Planning filled the space with a long head table and a scattering of round tables…different shapes give us an opportunity to vary the centerpiece designs, and mixing high-impact florals with more low-key designs is a great way to make an impression while keeping the budget in check. In this case we went all-out on the head table, with an abundance of miniature floral designs and elegant taper candles, and the ceremony urns positioned at each end. The candles sparkled in the sun streaming through the hall’s dramatic windows, and later reflected the bistro lights draped from the ceiling.

My favorite part was seeing how much fun everyone was having when we returned for breakdown!
